Do you mean "Gracias" as in Thank you? Or do you really mean Gracious?
I was wondering the same thing...

Well, I guess we are in for the fight of our careers! The statement that we better agree or face layoffs sounds like a slap in the face to me. I knew the Regents would not even listen to reason. They would be the ones taking the hit if they did what the unions are asking. That is a great reason for legislating UC and take the Regents out of power. I am almost ready to say let the state take over the decisions rather then those corrupted disillusioned Kronies! Give to themselves and take from the workers and the students(like the 395 million in bonuses in the fall of 2008!) all the while they sit in their crystal palaces, living lives of oppulence. Hey, we want car allowances and paid expenses! Can you tell I am kind of bitter???
We did not even get the raise like the other union did and still we have to take this cuts. We are the lowest paid within UC. Taxes and cost of living have gone up. I think we should get a contract from the regents first, maybe it should state that our raise will be -% after Sept., then they can give us furlough days.
Hi, i do have to agree with Teri with her words of " being bitter and the statement that we better agree or face layoffs sounds like a slap in the face to me". There are so many high paying faculties and the regents are also high paid people. They are the ones that should be getting the chopped of the knife. They know this, but being selfish they cannot help themselves.
Look at it this way, If the real high pay workers (faculties /regents) would take the proper cuts the little men (people) us, would not have to take a furlough, nor have to get cut from their jobs. We are not the ones that put us here. California does not need more poor people on the streets nor people getting paid by unemployment checks. This form of crisis California needs people to be working together. Money will not always be there but people will. HELP US KEEP OUR JOB AND OUR PAY. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OUT THERE TO GET THE MONEY NEEDED. OPEN YOUR EYES, EMBRACE THE FACTS THAT THE HIGHER PAID PEOPLE NEED TO LET GO OF THEIR MONEY.........ITS THE ONLY WAY.......HOW DO YOU EXPECT THE UNIVERSITY TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WITH ALL THE SMALL PEOPLE GONE!!!!
There is nobody here at UCSC that wants to loose their jobs much less get a pay cut. If you look at what the faculties paid just to teach the kids a subject that they love and master and they do not want to put in their share of cuts. It is only temporarily. I mean 8% cuts from them is not a hell lot comparing to the little men. If you take 4% from the little people they feel the pinch. I still would try to get the money from the higher really high paying people. People who gets $200,000 a year .. Look at that numbers. The people they are cutting off are the ones that are like getting $40,000 a year. Look at the difference in pay.
Please try not to cut our pay, we are living check to check without any dealing with debts. Imagine when you cut the pay. The babies will starve with the parents.
The County of Los Angeles clinics are almost 100% dependent on state funding yet no real pay cuts. The lost $100 bilingual pay for those employees who speak other languages. Why is UC cutting our pay! Further more, county clinics service mostly non citizens. If I lost my benefits, I would have to sell my soul to qualify for these services. Something is truly wrong with this picture. UC is scamming us!!!
where is everybody? don't we deserve some updates here? last meeting was held on thu-fri 10/22 and 10/23. just because the salary reduction was delayed does not mean it isn't still coming. and perhaps...worse than predicted earlier. rumblings around here at UCLA sound like most CUE represented employees better get ready to lose their jobs wholesale. not exaggerating. president yudof basically stated at the beginning, either cuts are coming to all, or layoffs. one or both things were on the table as far back as early july. it is now nearly november, and believe it, layoffs are being implemented.
